The Tricycle Collective is a local non-profit dedicated to keeping Detroit at home. We believe that information has the ability to change outcomes, and that more resources are necessary to continue the fight against tax foreclosure.
The Tricycle Collective has received support from the Rackham Program in Public Scholarship through the University of Michigan, for the research, development and dissemination of a tax foreclosure outreach and prevention toolkit that seeks to sustain and expand capacity for ongoing foreclosure prevention efforts in Detroit. These resources were developed in close partnership with the United Community Housing Coalition.
The first installment of this toolkit focuses on Detroit’s Homeowner’s Property Tax Assistance Program (HPTAP), commonly referred to as the Poverty Tax Exemption. HPTAP can eliminate or dramatically lower property taxes for homeowners living in poverty.
We are in the process of developing additional toolkits to keep Detroiters in their homes. If you are interested in helping us in any way, please contact us at:
